Former Pupils
In this section we like to tell you about our former pupils and how they are getting on since leaving Uffington Primary School.
Past Pupils gain entry to Oxford University
Congratulations to Tom and Angus de Wilton, who both heard during the holiday, they have been given places at Oxford University. Tom was at Uffington from 1995 – 2002 and has gained a place a Wadham College to study Engineering Science. Angus was at Uffington from 1996 – 2003 and has gained a place at Christ Church to study Medicine. Both boys attended King Alfred’s’ School. We are delighted at their news and hope they enjoy their time in Oxford.
National Chemistry Challenge
One of our former pupils Angus De Wilton, along with two other school colleagues reached the final of the UK National Schools’ Analyst Challenge Shield, (for students studying AS Level Chemistry) held at Bangor University recently.
The Year 12 team from King Alfreds’ Sports College were awarded £100 on reaching the final of the competition. The scenario set was “Is a site of a former ammunitions factory suitable for redevelopment?” Professor Maher Kalaji from Bangor University stated “The competition introduces students to instrumental techniques they don’t normally encounter in their secondary education and apply these to realistic scenarios. The aim is to illustrate the important role that the chemists’ skills play in everyday situations."
Our congratulations go to Angus and his school friends for doing so well, 200 schools took part in this competition and by all accounts it was a very close final indeed!
We thought you might like to know about the recent successes of past pupils at the King Alfred's Sports Award Evening 2008.
